What we did

Theme development and ongoing maintenance for Cody Jinks' direct-to-fan store, built on Horizon — Shopify's current-generation theme architecture. This work started after, and independent of, the agency credited in the store's own footer for the original build; what's described here is our part of it, not theirs.

The challenge

Challenge

A touring musician's merch store runs on two different rhythms: a steady baseline of catalogue browsing, and sharp, unpredictable spikes around album drops and tour dates, when a homepage needs to switch to selling one thing — an album — instead of the usual mix of vinyl, apparel and posters. The store also needed to move onto Horizon, Shopify's newer theme framework, without breaking checkout during an active sales window.

What we did

Approach

We built out the Horizon theme customization and the templates the store uses for merch drops, including a homepage that reconfigures into an album-release splash page when there's a release to sell. The catalogue runs to 135 products across vinyl, CDs, apparel, hats and posters, and the maintenance work since has been paced to the artist's own release and tour calendar rather than a fixed retainer schedule.

The result

Outcome

The store now runs on Shopify's current-generation theme architecture, with a release cadence — new drops, new splash pages, new merch runs — that the theme is built to absorb rather than fight.
